Appreciation post: The quiet joy of finding a play group at a local library
I visited the library on Main Street in Burlington last weekend and stumbled into their monthly board game night. There were about 15 people there, ranging from a retired math teacher to a college kid who brought a rare copy of Dune from 1979. It was really nice to see a mix of ages just sitting around and playing without any pressure to be competitive. Has anyone else had good luck finding a group at a library or community center?

Tbh I think it really depends on the group you find.

Did you really find it "quiet" and "joyful" though? Honestly, those groups are usually full of loud arguments about house rules and someone trying to win at all costs. The retired math teacher probably dominated every game with probability calculations, and the college kid was probably bragging about how rare his Dune copy is. I've tried library groups twice and both times it turned into a awkward mess of people who can't agree on anything. They weren't peaceful at all, just a different kind of competitive.
