Shoutout to the guy who told me to stop sleeving every single card I own
I used to sleeve every board game I bought, even the ones I barely played, until a guy at my local shop in Portland asked if I was collecting cards or playing games. Now I only sleeve stuff that gets heavy rotation like my Terraforming Mars deck, and it's saved me like $40 per game.

Used to be all about the full sleeve life for every single game I touched, honestly. I had this weird mental block where I thought anything without a sleeve was getting ruined just sitting in the box. Then I saw a buddy at a game night who just bags his tokens and only sleeves the card decks that actually get shuffled, and it blew my mind a little. Tried it with my copy of Dune Imperium (which has way too many cards to sleeve fully), and now I only protect the conflict deck and the main draw pile. Saves a ton of money and a ton of space in the box too, not to mention time putting them all back on after a game. It really does make you think about what you actually handle versus what just sits there looking pretty.

Man I feel personally attacked by this whole thread lmao. I was the guy with 500 sleeves for a game I played once and then shoved in a closet for three years.

Ditch the full game sleeves and just bag the player boards and tokens separately. I keep a stack of penny sleeves for my Terraforming Mars cards that get shuffled every session, and throw the rest in a ziploc bag. Saved me from buying a second copy when my Gloomhaven cards started peeling at the edges too. Pick up a 100 pack of sleeves for $2 and only use them on the stuff that actually sees play.
