Unpopular opinion: Terraforming Mars is way overhyped for what it is
I finally sat down and played Terraforming Mars with a group of 4 last Saturday. We spent nearly 4 hours on a game that honestly felt like it dragged through the last hour. Everyone else was raving about the engine building and card combos, but I kept checking the clock wondering when it would wrap up. I learned that for me, a game needs tighter pacing and more player interaction to hold my attention. The whole time I was thinking about how many other games we could have played in that same window. Has anyone else found a popular game that just didn't click for them after a proper try?

My copy's still in shrink because I'm terrified of the commitment.

Terrified of the commitment" - man, that's a big mood but also kind of funny. Is it the first issue that's got you paralyzed, or are you worried you'll binge-read all 20 in one night and then have nothing to look forward to? I feel like once you pop that shrink wrap, there's no going back to the safe, unread world. So what's the real fear here - disappointment, or just the finality of finishing something you've been hyping up?
