My hawk clamp slipped on a tank seam in Tulsa and it changed how I check my grip

I was tacking a 3/8 shell plate near the manway when the clamp let go and threw my stinger into the weld pool, so now I torque every clamp to 25 ft-lbs before I even strike an arc, has anyone else had a clamp fail mid-fit-up and switch their whole routine?
