A print guy in Boise said my neon orange on cream looked like a caution cone, and he was right
I put neon orange text on cream paper for a fundraiser flyer last month and thought it looked fun. The guy at the copy place in Boise held it up and said it read like a traffic cone, not a party invite. I swapped the orange for a deep plum and suddenly the cream looked warm instead of washed out. Took me three tries to get the shade right but the plum plus cream got the most compliments of anything I've ever made. What pairs do you all keep coming back to when a bright color flops?
Made the same mistake with lime green on white once and my own mom asked why I was advertising a garage sale. Now I just test any loud color on a scrap first before committing.
