Our book club hit 50 members last week and I still can't believe it
I started this club with 3 friends in my living room back in January. Now we have 50 people on the roster and we had to move to a rented space at the local library in Portland. It got me thinking about how fast small things can grow when people really connect over something. Has anyone else had a book club blow up way bigger than you planned?

Oh wow, 50 members in a few months? That's wild. I run a book club that hit 40 a while back and let me tell you, the growing pains are real. First thing you need to do is set up a clear system for picking books before things get chaotic. We use a simple Google form where members nominate titles and vote, then the top 2 or 3 get chosen for the next few months. Also, think about splitting into smaller discussion groups when you meet. Big groups are great for energy but terrible for actually talking about the book. And for the love of all things, pick a meeting spot with good parking or you'll lose half your people before they even get inside. Congrats on the growth, just don't let it turn into a management nightmare.

Yeah the parking thing is no joke... lost a few members myself before we switched venues. What worked for us was giving people a say in picking the book but also setting some ground rules, like no books over 400 pages and alternating genres so we don't get stuck in a slump. And honestly, splitting into smaller groups saved our meetings, nobody feels left out when they actually have time to talk.
