Our book club met at the new library in Oakwood and the whole vibe was wrong

We picked the new Oakwood Public Library for our monthly meetup, thinking the quiet study rooms would be perfect. The space was all glass and concrete, super modern, but it felt cold and loud. You could hear every page turn from two tables over. We were trying to talk about the moral choices in 'The Midnight Library' and kept getting shushed by the staff. It completely killed the flow of our debate about regret and second chances. Half the group just gave up and wanted to leave early. I've been in five different book clubs over ten years and the setting really does change how people talk. Has anyone found a good spot that actually works for a real, sometimes loud, book argument?

Expect a library to be quiet, that's the whole point of the place. Maybe your group just picked the wrong type of spot for a loud debate. Those glass rooms are for studying, not for club meetings where you want to argue. Isn't it on you to find a cafe or someone's living room instead of getting mad when a library acts like a library? The staff was just doing their job to keep it a good space for everyone else. Sounds like the vibe was right, but your plans were wrong.

Actually, those rooms are meant for group work and talking.
