Our book club's whole schedule fell apart after we picked 'Infinite Jest'
We planned to finish it in six weeks, but after three meetings in Portland, only two of us had gotten past page 200. The group basically split between people who loved the footnotes and people who gave up. Has anyone else had a club nearly break over a single book choice?

Pick something shorter next time to get the group back on track. We switched to short stories for a month after our own 'Infinite Jest' disaster. It helped everyone remember that reading is supposed to be fun.

Short stories saved our group too. We even did themed months like sci-fi or mysteries to keep things fresh.
