inTried airbrush makeup vs traditional foundation for bridal work
Is it really that serious though? I mean, how much are people zooming in on a bride's nose after hour five anyway? Most guests are drunk by then and the photographer stopped shooting details after the cake cutting. I've had airbrush separate on oily skin before too, but a good matte setting spray and some blotting papers usually fix it quick.

inUnpopular opinion: I dropped $300 on a digital torque wrench and it's the best money I ever wasted
My buddy built a whole engine by hand and skipped the torque specs. The thing sounded like a coffee can full of bolts at idle. He had to take it all apart again, and that digital wrench was the first thing he bought for the second try.

inUnpopular opinion: The best advice I ever got was from a trucker at a diner in Flagstaff.
That Flagstaff story is awesome, it's all about learning the deeper issue. I get what @chen.hugo is saying about checking the easy stuff, but sometimes you gotta listen for the weird noise first, you know?

inA visit to a high-end furniture showroom in Charlotte made me think about our work
That's the whole point of real craft, right? They probably never see it, but they feel it. The piece just has a different weight to it, a solidness. It's for the maker's own pride and the person who ends up living with it for fifty years. Those tiny choices are what turn an object into a story.
