Vent: Dropped $200 on a guillotine cutter and kinda regret it

Tbh I thought a nice guillotine cutter would save me so much time trimming book blocks. I bought one for about $200 six months ago from a brand that seemed solid. At first it was great, clean cuts and all that. But now the blade is getting dull and I can't find a replacement anywhere, not even direct from the maker. Meanwhile my buddy swears by just using a sharp utility knife and a straight edge for way less money. He says the guillotine is just a headache waiting to happen. So I'm torn, do I invest more in a better model or just go back to the cheap way? Has anyone else dealt with a cutter that turned into a paperweight?

My $200 guillotine is now a very expensive paperweight that sits there judging me every day. I swear mine started acting up after like 50 cuts and now it leaves ragged edges like a toddler with safety scissors. Your buddy with the utility knife probably gets cleaner cuts too, which hurts my soul a little bit. Maybe we should start a support group for people who got tricked by fancy looking cutting machines.

God yes, I fell for the same stupid trap with my guillotine and now I can barely cut through printer paper without it snagging. The thing cost me a fortune and somehow my old $20 rotary cutter still works way better.
