My mom's birthday gift choice between a rare fern and a big orchid

For her birthday last month, I was stuck between buying my mom a variegated rabbit's foot fern for $65 or a big, blooming moth orchid. She loves weird plants, so I went with the fern. It's been doing okay in her bathroom window, but a few fronds turned brown last week. Anyone have tips for keeping these ferns happy in dry indoor air?

Oh, that's a cool gift choice. Just a small thing, but rabbit's foot ferns are named for their fuzzy rhizomes, not really their fronds. The browning is probably from the dry air, like you guessed. Those ferns really need a ton of humidity. You could try putting its pot on a tray filled with wet pebbles, that helps mine a lot. A weekly misting right on those furry roots can make a big difference too.

Honestly I've had way better luck just watering the soil directly.
