My wake-up call with neem oil in the garden

I thought neem oil was totally safe for any plant. Seeing my beneficial insects drop off made me rethink that. Now I spot treat only.

My buddy Tom in Phoenix drenched his roses last spring. His ladybug population vanished for a whole month.

Yeah, I always figured water was harmless for bugs (like, it's just water, right?). But hearing that Tom's ladybug crew just up and left for a whole month after he soaked everything? That really makes you stop and think. It probably washed away all the aphids they were eating, or maybe messed up their eggs in the soil. Makes me way more careful with the hose now, honestly.
