Just realized I was picking logo colors off my laptop screen, not real life
I designed a whole cafe logo for a place in Portland and the sage green looked perfect on my MacBook. Then the owner held the printed menu next to a paper bag from the bakery down the street and it looked like old pea soup. I had been sampling colors by eyeballing my screen for about two years without ever checking them against a real printed piece in the same room. Now I print a $3 test sheet at the FedEx on Burnside and tape it to the wall before I send anything. Anyone else got a cheap test step they do before colors get locked in?
