My cousin told me to ditch the tagline from my logo mockup

She said it looked cluttered and the icon should stand alone, so I removed the 'Fitness Solutions' text. The cleaner version got way more positive feedback from my small survey group of 20 people. Has a simpler logo ever worked better for your brand?

janab87 makes a good point about testing memory. Clean logos often stick better. I've seen it with local businesses. The coffee shop down the street went from a detailed drawing of a cup to just a simple bean shape. People recognize it faster now. Too much text can make a logo feel busy and forgettable.

That 20 person survey is a solid sample. Did you ask them what they actually remembered about the logo before and after the change?

It's funny you mention that because I went through almost the exact same thing with my own brand last year. I had this logo with like a detailed illustration and the full business name underneath, and a friend just told me to cut everything except the symbol. I was nervous about it at first but I did it and the difference was night and day. People started remembering the mark itself way more, they'd just describe the shape instead of trying to recall the whole name and tagline. So yeah I'm pretty convinced now that less is more when it comes to logos, your cousin was right to push you on that.
