Took me 8 hours to figure out a corner I should have finished in 2

Working on a garden wall in Portland last Friday. Got this corner where two different bond patterns meet at a 45 degree angle near a window. Thought I had it mapped in my head. Cut about 15 bricks before I realized my angle was off by 3 degrees. Had to grind every single one down to fit. My buddy Mark just laughed and said I should have dry laid it first. Has anyone else wasted a whole day on something that should have been a quick fix?

Man that's brutal... 3 degrees off is just enough to ruin your whole day but not enough to catch it right away. I feel your pain, I've ground down more than a few bricks in my time.

Ugh the worst. Did that last week on a retaining wall and had to chip out three blocks before I just called it a day.

@river183 beat me to it, but honestly the real killer here is that 3 degree thing. It's like when you're off by just a little on a miter cut and suddenly your whole corner looks crooked and you can't unsee it. Hope your buddy Mark buys the next round for all the grief he gave you.
