Hot take: I used to book the cheapest flight and figure out the rest later. A $40 ticket to Lisbon taught me that's a terrible plan.

I landed at 2 AM with no affordable way to get into the city, and the airport taxi cost more than the flight. Is it better to pay more for a flight at a reasonable hour, or is the midnight arrival gamble always worth the savings?
