Just realized my hostel booking trick was costing me money in Lisbon
Booked 4 nights at a 10 bed dorm in Lisbon for $28 a night right at check in because I thought showing up meant a discount, then watched a guy pay $19 for the same bed on his phone 2 feet away from the front desk.

Walked into a pizza place in Naples last summer and did the same thing. Saw a sign outside that said 8 euro for a margherita so I sat down and ordered two, then noticed the locals standing at the counter paying 3 euro for the exact same pie. Turns out there was a whole separate menu for takeaway and the sit down price was almost triple. I felt like such a tourist. The pizza was still amazing but I ate it feeling dumb. Now I always check an app or ask a local before I commit to anything when I travel.
