My sister called my packing 'a pharmacy in a suitcase' and she was right

I used to pack a full first aid kit with every pill and cream imaginable, thinking it saved money on foreign pharmacies. She pointed out I'd never used half of it and it wasted space and weight. Now I just bring a few basics like pain meds and bandaids, and buy anything else locally for like $5. Has anyone else cut down their travel meds and been surprised how easy it is to find stuff abroad?

Look at it from the other side though. That "pharmacy" is pure peace of mind for a lot of people. Finding a drugstore in a strange country can be a real headache, especially with a splitting headache. You might not know the brand names, the dosing could be different, and you're wasting vacation time sorting it out. Having your trusted stuff right there is worth the tiny bit of space it takes up. It's not about being scared, it's about being smart and ready so you can actually relax.

Honestly though, is it that big of a deal to pack a few extra pills? Tbh I'd rather have my own stuff than hunt for a pharmacy in a place where I don't speak the language. Sure, maybe you don't use it, but that one time you need it you'll be glad it's there. It just seems like a weird thing to stress over when packing.
