Tracked every hotel night for 2 years and hit 47, not 20 like I guessed
I keep a little note on my phone of what each night costs, and when I added up the last 2 years it came to 47 nights on the road at an average of $31 a night. That number shocked me because I thought I was mostly crashing with friends, not actually paying for places. How do you all keep track of your true nightly average when hostels, camp spots, and friends' couches all mix together?

Man, nobody counts the true cost of "free" couches: gas, gifts, and guilt add up fast.
