Turns out the cheapest flight search site is not Google

I spent 6 months booking through Google Flights because everyone swears by it. Then I tried Skyscanner for a trip to Lisbon last Tuesday and saved $87 on the same route. The trick is to use the 'everywhere' search option, it finds random cheap destinations you never think to check. Google only shows you flights to places you already typed in. Why does nobody talk about that feature more? Has anyone else found weird savings using the map search on other sites?
