Buddy at work showed me his spreadsheet from 2019
I used to think tracking every dollar was neurotic. Then my coworker Dave pulled up a 4 year old spreadsheet on his phone during lunch. He showed me how he saved $2,300 in 6 months just by cutting his takeout breakfast habit. That one specific number stuck with me so I tried it myself for a month. Has anyone else had a random conversation completely flip how you budget?

Started tracking my gas spending after my friend found $400 in old receipts in his car.

Checked my bank statements last month and it was worse than I thought @rayc83. The fuel app on my phone helped a lot. I set a weekly budget and just stuck to it. Found out I was spending almost $60 a week just driving to work and back. Started carpooling with a coworker twice a week and it cut my gas bill by a third. Also unsubscribed from those email deals that kept making me take detours to the store. Little changes added up quick.
