Figured out my electric bill was way too high for like 4 years before I finally fixed it
Ngl, I kept blaming the AC unit but turns out an old fridge in the garage was pulling like $40 a month extra. Anyone else have a hidden power drain that took forever to catch?

wait how did you even narrow it down? I got one of those plug in meters finally and found out my 10 year old chest freezer in the basement was pulling like 300 watts even when nothing was in it. unplugged that thing and my bill dropped $25 the very next month. makes me wonder what else is hiding in the walls or wherever. did you check the water heater or any old electronics on standby too?

300 watts sounds high but those old freezers are terrible. Even empty a modern one is usually around 100-150. Your water heater is a HUGE one too, especially if it's electric and older than 10 years. Might be worth checking that next.
