Hot take: My old habit of ignoring small leaks wrecked my monthly plan

Back in the day, I used to let little expenses slide, like coffee runs or app subscriptions, thinking they didn't matter. One month, all those small charges added up and I was short on rent, which was a real panic. I had to borrow from a friend, and it felt awful, honestly. Since then, I track every dollar, even the tiny stuff, and it's changed everything for me. Now, I use a simple app to catch those leaks before they become a problem. In my experience, being strict with the small things made the big bills way easier to handle. Your mileage may vary, but for me, that failure was the best budgeting lesson I ever got.

Always thought small buys were no big deal, but your story proved me wrong.

Yeah, that "small charges added up" line is so real. I started rounding up every purchase to the nearest dollar in my notes app, and seeing that extra fake total scared me straight. It showed me exactly what I was losing, like @jenniferb45 said, it really is a big deal. For me, just writing it down made me second guess buying a lot of stuff.
