Paint ratio myth busted after 40 failed samples

Spent a whole weekend testing sheen levels on maple trim. Turns out the 5:1 paint to thinner ratio I've used for years was way off. My local Sherwin-Williams guy in Dayton ran a viscosity check and showed me 4.5:1 was the real sweet spot. Has anyone else calibrated their mix based on actual humidity readings?
