Unpopular opinion: A chalkboard wall fixed our family's kitchen chaos

I got sick of wiping crayon off my walls every day. So I painted one kitchen wall with chalkboard paint last weekend. Now my kids draw there instead of on furniture or other walls. For example, they scribble shopping lists or leave notes about who finished chores. It even became our central spot for weekly meal plans. Putting it up took just a few hours and some basic paint supplies. Honestly, this cheap hack made our home feel more organized and cut down on mess fights.

Is this hack truly fixing chaos or just moving it around?

Saw a study on this exact thing. Organizing tools into more containers just shifts the mess into smaller, hidden piles. The clutter isn't gone, it's just sorted. You end up managing the baskets instead of the stuff. It feels tidy for a week until those bins become junk drawers. Real fix needs a system you'll actually keep up with.

Try adding baskets for chalk and erasers too.
