Okay, @nancy3, you've got me thinking... a messy spread works better for what, exactly? Like, are we talking about a tarot reading feeling more honest when the cards are all over the place, or just the look of it? I can see a messy layout feeling less forced, like the cards aren't being pushed into a neat little box. Sometimes a clean spread feels too much like you're trying to control the message instead of letting it come through. But a total mess can just be confusing... there's a line.
