Warning: I lost a whole month of notes because I didn't back up my bujo photos

I was at a coffee shop in Austin last Tuesday, updating my weekly spread on my phone, and then I dropped it in a puddle outside. My phone died completely and I lost every picture I had taken of my bullet journal for the last 30 days. I had been so proud of my habit tracker and meal log, but I never saved them anywhere else. Now I have to recreate everything from memory, and it's a MESS. Has anyone else had a tech fail like this with their journal pictures?

Wait, was your phone not syncing to any cloud service automatically? That's rough, I've been there with losing stuff before. Actually, I set up a system after I lost a bunch of photos from a road trip back in 2019 where my phone takes all my bujo pictures and saves them to a folder in Google Photos every night when I plug it in. @cameron_craig might be onto something about digital karma but sometimes it's just tech being dumb, not a sign. If you use an iPhone, check if your iCloud backup was turned on because sometimes photos hide in there even if you think they're gone. Honestly, I'd just start fresh with your next spread and maybe sketch out the really important habit tracker pages from memory since you probably remember more than you think.
