PSA: that soft mute click on your TV remote is not what you think it is
I was poking around a teardown video for my 2019 TCL remote and found out the mute button has a tiny rubber dome with no real click of its own, the sound is just the plastic cap tapping the shell. That means the click you hear is a fake, put there to make you feel like you pressed something, and it sits at a different pitch than the volume rocker right above it. Does anyone else have a remote where the mute click sounds off compared to the rest, or am I just noticing this now?
Whoa, that's wild. So is the pitch difference because the dome is a different size, or is the shell just shaped different right there? And if you hold the button down, does the fake click still happen or does it go quiet?
