Dropped $85 on a button press bundle from a craft store clearance rack and the dies were total junk
I grabbed one of those all in one button maker kits off a clearance shelf at a craft store in Columbus about 6 months ago. It was marked down from $120 to $85 and I thought I was getting such a deal. Got it home, pressed maybe 12 pins, and the dies started leaving these weird crescent dents in the metal backs. Turns out the clearance batch had a bad run of dies that were cut slightly off center. I tried adjusting the spring tension, watched like 5 videos, nothing worked. Customer ordered 40 pins from me for a local band and I had to eat the cost of redoing the whole order on my old reliable press. Ended up mailing the whole kit back and only got store credit, not my cash. If you see a random press bundle on a clearance endcap, just walk away. Has anyone else gotten burned by a cheap secondhand or clearance press like this?
