I finally pressed 500 pins without one crooked cut
I hit a milestone on Saturday and I still can't believe it. I was cutting out my batch of 500 cat pins for the Portland zine fest and every single circle came out clean, no jagged edges, no off-center cuts. I've been fighting with my 1 inch punch for like 3 months and it turns out my paper was just too thick for the blade, so I switched to 65 lb cardstock and everything clicked. The press ran smooth too, only 4 bad pins out of the whole batch. What gram paper do you all use for bigger runs like this?
65 lb is the sweet spot for sure, anything heavier and my punch starts chewing up the edges too. For real big runs I bump up to 80 lb but only if I'm using a fresh blade, otherwise its a mess. Sounds like you got your setup dialed in now.
