Ruined 80 pins before I figured out my cutter was the problem, not me
Spent the last 3 weeks convinced my press was misaligned because every batch had a jagged left edge, and I was ready to drop $200 on a new one. Turns out my circle cutter from the craft store in Dayton had a tiny burr on the blade that was chewing up the paper on one side, and a $6 replacement blade fixed all of it in 2 minutes. Anyone else ever blame their gear for something that was really just one dumb little part?

I read a thing on a print shop forum where a guy went through 3 full rolls of vinyl before he found out the pinch roller on his plotter had a flat spot. The blade was fine the whole time. He had it in his head that the plotter was dying because that's the big expensive thing you stare at, so you figure it has to be the problem. Nobody ever thinks to check the cheap little part first. I've started replacing blades and rollers before I touch anything else, because it's almost never the machine.
