Shoutout to the flea market guy in Tulsa who priced his whole button tin by the lid
So I drove up to the Tulsa flea market on Saturday morning, mostly hunting for old pin backs, and this guy had a coffee tin full of vintage campaign buttons sitting on a folding table. He told me he wanted 2 bucks a button, but then he picked up one with a cracked celluloid face and said he would knock the whole tin down to 40 bucks if I took it as is. I stood there for like 10 minutes digging through it because half the backs were rusted and the pin stems were bent flat. The frustrating part is he would not let me buy just the five good ones, it was the whole tin or nothing. I get that he wanted it gone, but now I am stuck with 60 rusty pins I have to either scrap or try to clean up with vinegar. Two of them have water stains all over the front and I honestly do not know if those are worth saving at all. Has anyone here ever brought a batch like this back to life, or do you just toss the ones with rust creeping under the plastic?
