Finally tried a router lift and I was wrong about them being unnecessary
I've been building cabinets for about 8 years and always thought router lifts were overpriced gadgets. Last month I got a deal on a used JessEm lift at a shop in Denver for $150. After using it for three projects, I finally get why people swear by them. Not having to reach under the table to adjust the bit depth saved me at least 20 minutes per door set. Has anyone else held out on a tool then regretted not buying it sooner?

Felt that gremlin comment deep in my bones. I used to keep a little stool under my bench just so I could sit and curse while adjusting bits. Total game changer once you finally switch.

Man I feel this SO hard. I spent YEARS crawling under my table like a gremlin every time I needed to adjust the bit, telling myself it "built character." Now I feel like a complete moron for all that time I wasted.
