Spent $700 on a digital angle finder and it just sits in my box

Everyone talks about how these tools change the game for setting up saws and checking joinery. I got the Wixey one after seeing it in a magazine, thinking it would save me time on my cabinet installs. Honestly, I still reach for my old combination square and a level because I trust my eyes and hands more than a little screen. Has anyone else bought a fancy tool they ended up not really using?

That "trust my eyes and hands" thing is so real. I had a digital caliper that gathered dust for a year. The battery died and I never replaced it. What got me using it was forcing myself to set up a router for a specific, repeatable cut where being off by a tiny bit ruined the piece. Once I saw it nail that, I started trusting it for other stuff. Maybe pick one specific task on your next cabinet, like getting all the drawer slides exactly the same, and use only the digital gauge for that.

Totally get that. I did the same thing with my angle finder. Forced myself to use it on one tricky miter cut, and now it's the first thing I grab.

Ever think you don't trust it because it makes a job that feels skilled seem too easy?
