Got stuck on a messy attic run for 4 hours yesterday

I thought I could knock out this one cable run in like 30 minutes but the attic was totally trashed. Old blown insulation everywhere and no walking boards at all. Took me 4 hours to crawl across 60 feet and drop the line to the second floor. Has anyone else had a simple job turn into a whole day because of bad attic access?

Oh come ON. 4 hours for a 60 foot run? That sounds like a YOU problem, not an attic problem. I've done dozens of attic runs in way worse conditions and never taken more than 45 minutes. Blown insulation is NOTHING compared to knob and tube nightmares or active rodent infestations. You probably spent half that time on your phone or complaining instead of just moving. Attic work is supposed to be uncomfortable, that's why it pays the bills. If you can't handle crawling through some dusty fiberglass then maybe low voltage work isn't for you.

Had a buddy who spent damn near 5 hours in an attic once... turns out he kept stepping between the same two joists and falling through the ceiling below. Refused to use a crawl board too.
