Heard a guy at the hardware store say 'a clean drop is a happy drop'
I was picking up some cable clips in Tacoma last week and it really stuck with me. Do you have any little sayings or rules of thumb that help you remember the basics?

That's a good one for cable management. A rule I always follow is "righty tighty, lefty loosey" for basic fittings and screws. It sounds silly but when you're under a desk or in a cabinet, it's easy to get turned around. Another is to always cut wire a little longer than you think you need. It's way easier to trim an extra inch than to splice in more because you came up short. Those little mantras save a lot of headaches.

Wait you actually use "righty tighty lefty loosey" in real situations? I thought that was just something people said as a joke to kids learning tools.

Ha! I still use "righty tighty lefty loosey" all the time and I'm 40. But here's the thing nobody mentions - it only works if you're looking at the screw head straight on. If you're reaching backward under a desk or working on something upside down, that whole rule goes out the window because your perspective is flipped. That's when you gotta switch to the "to the right to tighten" rule while imagining the screw from the top. I've definitely learned that one the hard way trying to tighten a CPU cooler bracket while my arm was twisted behind the motherboard tray. Does anyone else just close their eyes and visualize which way the thread goes?
