Showerthought: lost 3 hours on a Tuesday in Mesa because I trusted the map app's cable route over my own eyes
Drove to the address, trench already dug, then saw the actual run needed to cross a driveway twice, so I'm asking: does anyone else snap a photo of the utility markings before quoting, or do you just eat the extra footage?
Tbh this is the same thing as trusting GPS over your own eyes when it tells you to turn into a lake. Happens with everything now, people just hand over their brain to the phone. I've watched guys at the hardware store ask an app which screw to buy while the old dude behind the counter is standing right there. The map shows a clean line but the ground shows tree roots, a fence, and three feet of extra trench nobody counted. Photo the marks, sure, but also walk the run yourself before you promise anyone a price. Your eyes saw it in two minutes, the app never will.
