Spent 4 hours fixing a shutter that worked fine after 5 minutes
Had a Pentax Spotmatic come in with a sticky shutter at slow speeds. Cleaned the blades, lubed the gears, tested everything a dozen times. But the 1/1000 speed kept dragging by half a stop. Took me 3 hours chasing the curtain tension before I realized the mirror bumper foam was slightly tacky and grabbing the mirror on the way up. Replaced that little strip in 5 minutes and the shutter was dead on. Anyone else waste a whole afternoon on something that turned out to be a tiny foam piece?

Did you try swapping out the foam first thing, or did you learn that the hard way like me?

Oh man, learned it the hard way for sure! Tried to get three more uses out of the old foam and ended up with water everywhere. Now I always keep a spare on hand before I even start.
