Got told my resume read like a robot wrote it, so I rewrote it in plain English

A recruiter friend pointed out I used the word 'utilized' six times and said nobody talks like that, so I cut all the corporate buzzwords and made it sound like me, and now I'm actually getting callbacks has anyone else had to rewrite their resume to sound more human?

Are we really acting like buzzwords are the reason people aren't getting hired?

The moment I cut "utilized" and "leveraged" from my resume, everything changed. It's like recruiters actually enjoy reading something that sounds like a human wrote it. I honestly think the corporate speak is a crutch people lean on because they think it sounds professional, but really it just makes you blend in. Plain English lets your actual experience shine through instead of hiding behind a wall of jargon. Good on you for making the switch, man.
