My old boss called me out for lying on my resume in front of everyone
About 10 years ago I had an interview for a project manager role at a construction firm in St. Louis. I had stretched my experience with a software called Procore, said I knew it well but really I had only used it twice. The hiring manager asked me a simple question about scheduling and I froze. He looked at me and said "you don't know this, do you?" right in front of two other people. I walked out of there feeling like a fool, but it taught me to never pad my skills again. Has anyone else had a moment like that where you got caught stretching the truth?

Read a career blog that said honesty saves you from having to remember your lies later.

Haha ouch. @emmar75 that blog is right - you can't lie your way out of a simple question. Dude called you out in front of witnesses. That's brutal. At least you learned the hard way instead of getting fired later.
