Drove 3 hours for a job and realized I left my nail gun at home

Had a kitchen cabinet install outside of Flagstaff last month. Get to the site, unload the truck, and no nail gun. Not even my backup. Ended up using a hammer and finish nails for all the trim work. Took me twice as long and my hand was killing me. Has anyone else ever shown up to a job missing something obvious like that?

I did that last year with my impact driver on a bathroom remodel in Prescott. Drove 45 minutes, pulled up to the house, popped the tailgate, and just stared at the empty space where it should have been. Ended up driving back home, which killed my whole morning. You'd think after twenty years in the trade I'd learn to check my truck bed before I leave the shop, but nope, still happens.

You ever notice how the stuff we use EVERY single day becomes invisible until we NEED it? I swear my brain treats my tools like they're just part of my hand until I actually look down and there's nothing there. It's like that with my phone charger too - I'll be miles from home and suddenly realize I left it plugged in on the nightstand. Something about routines makes us blind to the obvious stuff.
