Finally gave up on pocket screws for face frames after 12 years
I learned the hard way that pocket screws just don't hold up on cabinet face frames in humid basements. Built a set of oak frames for a guy in Nashville back in March, used my Kreg jig like always, and three of them started pulling apart by June. Switched to domino joinery on the same job for replacements and those things are rock solid after two months. The domino cutter was expensive at around $900 but I figure it pays for itself if I never have to redo a job again. Anyone else made the switch from pocket holes and noticed a big difference?

$900 for a domino cutter? That's cute, my Kreg jig was $40 and I've only had to redo three jobs this year. Guess I'm just not fancy enough for your fancy basement oak.

Three jobs needing redo this year @lucas159, what's your acceptable failure rate?
