Shoutout to the old guy in Toledo who showed me the golf ball trick for stretching into closets
Honestly I used to fight closet corners for an extra 20 minutes on every job. About 3 years back I was doing a rental turnover in Toledo and this installer named Ray, probably 30 years in, watched me cuss at a knee kicker for a bit. He grabbed a golf ball, wedged it in the corner, and used it as a pivot point to work the carpet into the tack strip without tearing anything. Ngl it felt dumb at first but I knocked out 4 closets in under an hour that day. Now I keep a couple golf balls in my bucket, one hard one soft depending on the carpet backing. Has anyone else picked up little tricks like this from the old heads, or is it mostly just power stretcher and hope now?
