Chased a weird magenta cast on my poster prints for 3 whole evenings
Every poster I ran on my Epson 7800 had this faint pink tint in the grays, so I tried 4 different paper profiles and even swapped out the light magenta cart. It turned out my monitor was showing the file at 100% brightness and the fix was just recalibrating it with a $100 tool I'd bought in 2022 and never opened. Has anyone else spent days blaming their printer when the screen was the actual problem the entire time?

The 7800's light magenta cart actually has nothing to do with pink in your grays, since gray is mostly built from the black and light black channels. The magenta cast was almost surely your screen lying to you, and the fact that it showed the same tint on four profiles is a dead giveaway. Good on you for opening that calibration tool, most of us let those sit in the box for years.
