Hot take: a 2019 Pantone study says most people see 1 million colors, and my $400 monitor can't show half of them
I was digging around online after my sunset prints kept coming out flat and found a note from Pantone saying the average person can pick out about 1 million colors. My cheap office monitor only covers around 45 percent of Adobe RGB, so I was basically soft proofing blind this whole time. Ordered a BenQ SW240 last week and the first test print actually matched my screen for once. Anyone else figure out their display was the weak link before blaming the printer?
Wait, 45 percent of Adobe RGB? That is wild, no wonder your prints looked off. Most folks blame the printer first but the screen was lying to you the whole time. Good thing the new BenQ fixed it before you wasted more paper.
