I spent 4 hours last Saturday chasing a color that was never going to exist
So last Saturday I was printing shirts for my cousin's kickball team in my garage in Columbus, and they wanted this bright teal that matches their sponsor's logo. I mixed ink for like an hour, ran test prints, kept getting this dull grayish blue that looked nothing like the bright teal on my screen. I tried bumping the cyan up, then the yellow, then both, and it just kept drifting darker. My wife came out at one point and asked why I was yelling at a piece of paper. Turned out the sponsor sent me a screenshot of their logo with some weird filter on it, so the color I was chasing was basically impossible because it never even looked like that in real life. I finally called the sponsor's office, asked them to text me a photo of an actual business card, and matched that in about 20 minutes. Why do phone screens lie so bad about color, and does anybody here have a trick for getting clients to send real reference samples instead of screenshots?
