Heard a kid at FedEx Office say 'just print it in grayscale' like it was magic

I was picking up some banners last week and this college kid told the clerk to just convert his poster to grayscale because the colors looked "wrong." The clerk tried to explain CMYK vs RGB but the kid just shrugged. Made me think about how I used to ruin proofs by guessing color modes back in 2005 when I didn't know any better either. Has anyone else watched somebody ignore color space warnings and then act surprised when the print comes out muddy?

Guess he'll figure it out eventually, maybe.

Man, I remember when I was in his shoes a few years back with this old motorcycle I was trying to fix. I kept thinking I could just wing it and eventually it'd click, but I just kept hitting dead ends. What finally worked for me was just sitting down and watching a couple of step by step videos on YouTube, no shortcuts. I also wrote down a quick list of what I was doing wrong, like tightening bolts too much or skipping a step. It took a couple weekends but once I slowed down and took it piece by piece, it all came together. He'll probably get there, just needs to stop rushing and learn from the small mistakes first.
