Rant: My Pantone book from print shop days still beats my monitor for picking brand colors
Back in 2009 at a shop in Akron we had a physical Pantone swatch book and I would hold it next to a proof under the same lamp every time, and clients almost never sent anything back. Now I watch folks pick a brand color off a phone screen and act shocked when it prints muddy or flat on a business card order of 500. Does anyone still keep a paper swatch book around, or am I just old and stubborn about it?
Man, straight up, screens lie to you in ways a swatch book never will because of backlighting and color temp, so your paper book is still the real test. Honestly if more people kept one next to their desk they'd stop wasting money on reprints.
