Am I the only one who fought with a grinder for a whole afternoon?

I got a new hand grinder and could not get a consistent coarse grind for my French press, every batch was full of fines. It took me like 3 hours of watching videos and adjusting the burr before I figured out I was cranking way too fast. What's your fix for a sludgy press pot?

Oh man, I read somewhere that grinding speed is a huge deal for coarse settings. Like, if you go too fast, it basically smashes the beans instead of cutting them, which makes all that fine dust. My fix is to just go super slow, almost lazy with the cranking, and do a longer steep time to make up for the bigger grounds. It made a night and day difference for me.

Read the same thing about crank speed, morgan_jenkins90 is right. Going slow feels silly but it works. Also try a coarser setting than you think you need.
