The barista at a cafe in Portland poured my drip coffee twice, and I get why now
Stopped at a small spot on Alberta St last weekend and watched the guy dump my first cup down the sink before pouring a fresh one. I always figured that was just for show, but he said the first bit pulls too much oil off the bed and tastes muddy, so he brews 30 grams extra every time. Anyone else been told this, or is it just a thing that one shop does?
